Synchronize your emails on iPhone using IMAP
Note: Setup instructions below are for iPhone or iPod touch devices running software version 3.0.
To configure IMAP for your iPhone, just go through these steps:
On the iPhone, tap Settings and then Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then, tap Add Account… and choose Other.
Enter in your name, email address, and OIB password, then name the account. You can use any email address you like.
Under Incoming Mail Server settings, enter the following:
- Host Name: imap.otherinbox.com
- User Name: your OIB username
Under Outgoing Mail Server, because there is currently not an OIB SMTP server, you can use any SMTP server (e.g. smtp.gmail.com). Leave the username and password fields blank.
Instead, there will be folders and subfolders. Your OIB Inbox will be in the “OtherInbox” folder, and the subfolders will correspond with your OIB mailboxes. Saved, Sent, and Trash/Deleted work the same way .
